What makes a good Sora prompt
- One clear subject and action. "A fox running through a snowy forest" beats "amazing nature clip". Sora renders what it can picture.
- Camera language. Shot type and movement — "low tracking shot moving parallel", "slow push-in" — are what separate a clip from a scene.
- Shot-by-shot structure. Multi-shot prompts with per-shot durations keep longer generations coherent.
- Sound and pacing. Ambience cues shape the mood of the whole clip, especially in Sora 2 where audio matters.
Before and after
The same idea, expanded the way video models want it:
What you type
A fox running through a snowy forest
What you paste into Sora
Cinematic video. Concept: A fox running through a snowy forest. Mood: Dramatic. Scene: A misty pine forest at first light, snow settling on the branches. Shot 1 (4s): The fox breaks from cover and bounds through deep snow; camera low tracking shot moving parallel. Shot 2 (3s): It stops, breath visible, ears twitching; camera slow push-in. Pacing: Builds gently, ends calm. Sound / ambience: Crunching snow, distant wind. Aspect ratio: 16:9.
How it works
- 1. Type your idea in one line — plain words are fine.
- 2. Pick a style, mood and aspect ratio, or switch on advanced mode to add shots, pacing and sound.
- 3. Press generate and get three genuinely different prompts. Copy the one you like straight into Sora.
The prompts work in Sora and just as well in Kling, Runway, Veo and other AI video tools.
